We decided we want to keep things as slow and as natural as possible. I know that sounds weird for an induction, but hear me out. They started Suzanne on the cytotec last night and we saw the irregular contractions. Then they switched to pitocin to try to get them regular, but the pitocin was a little intense for how we want this to go. Our maternal fetal medicine doctor came in and said they did have cervidil in stock (we had inquired about cervidil in the middle of the night last night) and that he was very comfortable using it. He was on board with our decision to go that route and explained that it could take 6-12 hours to take full effect.
Of all the options, the cervidil seems to be the best, smoothest transition to labor. Our MFM doctor is fantastic, incredibly thorough, kind, and supportive.
So the waiting continues for now. It could be two hours or twenty, but we’re not rushing it.
Special thanks to Suzanne’s dad and stepmom for bringing breakfast and coffee, and to my mom for taking care of our other two boys!
